NACE Automechanika launches scholarship program

Automechanika Chicago, which took place from April 24-26, 2015 at McCormick Place West, opened its doors to a successful turnout with a diverse group of exhibiting companies and nearly 6,000 attendees. Scholarships are up for grabs to attend this year’s NACE Automechanika in Chicago this summer. Winners will have travel expenses and training costs covered and get access to trade show product discovery.

The scholarships are “an effort to bring affordable training to more automotive professionals in need,” an announcement for the scholarships said.

The trade show, the largest of its kind, is geared towards automotive high-end technical and management-related training for service and repair shops. It goes from July 26-29 at McCormick Place West in the Windy City.

The scholarship is put together by the UBM Community Engagement Program, the Automotive Management Institute, the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation and Technicians Service Training. Included in the covered costs are expenses for travel, hotel and training courses at the event. Cash vouchers will also be provided to be redeemed at exhibitors to buy tools and equipment.

“We are pleased to work with three wonderful organizations in AMi, NATEF and TST as we all work to further the access to quality, in-demand training for automotive professionals across the industry,” said Jim Savas, general manager and vice president of the automotive group at event organizer UBM. “We are fortunate to have the UBM Community Engagement Program support us in making it possible for more repairers and owners to participate in NACE Automechanika Chicago and continue to learn and improve their skills.”

Scholarships from AMi are available for those who work in the automotive service or collision repair industry and served in the U.S. military. NATEF scholarships are available for automotive educators and students over 18 years of age. And TST scholarships are available for technicians and shop owners meeting a variety of criteria.
