The Automotive Industries Association (AIA) of Canada announced that Brad Morris, general manager of Grote Industries Canada, is this year’s winner of the prestigious YES Young Leader of the Year Award. Brad is the sixth winner of this award, which will be presented at AIA’s Aftermarket Conference for Executives (ACE) on April 12thin Quebec City.

Brad has been a passionate supporter and champion of the aftermarket industry and of AIA over the years. Brad has given a great deal of his time to various AIA programs and committees and was a co-founding member of the Young Executive Society (YES) Committee, which supports the development of young executives in the industry. During his term on AIA’s Executive Committee and as Chairman of the AIA Board of Directors, Brad also led the Association through a very thorough governance review that resulted in the creation of a strong foundation for the Association and a structure that continues to be built on as AIA expands. This governance review included a transition to a smaller, more skill-based board of directors and the introduction of a comprehensive three year business plan focused on the strategic pillars of the Association.

“Since I have known Brad, he has always displayed a high level of professionalism in everything he does. Leading by example, his passion and knowledge of the aftermarket industry in Canada has truly been an inspiration to those around him. Brad has always set the bar high for himself and this has been reflected in what he has already been able to accomplish in his young career and in the impact he has had on both the industry and this Association,” said Marc Brazeau, president and CEO, AIA Canada.

In addition to his many contributions to the aftermarket industry, Brad Morris has always been very involved in his community. In 2012, Brad was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his volunteer work and his community service. This service includes his current position on the Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation Board of Directors, as well as his role as an advisor to and sponsor of BGR Racing, one of Canada’s premier development race car driving programs.

Anyone who knows Brad knows that outside of the automotive aftermarket his great passion is hockey. Whether on the ice, coaching his daughter’s team from the bench, or watching from the stands, his love for the sport has never wavered.  In October 2012 Brad was named Chair of the Board of Directors for the Canadian Women’s Hockey League and he also serves as a Director of the Canadian Ladies First Hockey Foundation, working in support of Canada’s Olympic and National Women’s Hockey Team.

Anyone wishing to attend the official presentation of Brad’s Young Leader of the Year Award on April 12th  can register for the ACE Conference on AIA’s website.
