Eye Spy: Bad bimmer brakes

The caliper was hanging off, the piston and both pads we missing, and based on the rust on the rim and the buildup on the caliper pad bridges it had been like that for a while

Robert Kuenzlen, the service manager at Butterworth’s Service Centre in Ingersoll, Ont. sent us this photo of the rear brakes on a 2000 BMW 323CI.

Robert purchased the car from a Toyota dealership to fix-up and sell. After inspecting the brakes, it became clear why the previous owner traded it in!

Robert writes, “When we brought it in and took the wheel off, the caliper was hanging off, the piston and both pads we missing, and based on the rust on the rim and the buildup on the caliper pad bridges it had been like that for a while.”
