Student Techs compete at Toronto International Auto Show

16 high school teams competed at the National Automotive Technology Contest held on February 14th at the Toronto International Auto Show. Students were tested in theory, sub-systems and in troubleshooting of specially “bugged” Volkswagen Jettas. Fist place honours went to Telmo Ferreira and Ben Fallis (Instructor: Tony Rende) of Central Technical School in Toronto, while second place was won by Greg Oldford and Kosta Pappas (Instructor: R. Cockburn) of Downsview Collegiate Institute. In third place was another Central Tech team, Hilary Quigley and Gianfranco Cavaliere (Instructor: Tony Rende). The event was hosted by the Automotive Technology Programs of Toronto’s Centennial College and was sponsored by Volkswagen Canada, Snap-on Industrial, The Toronto International Auto Show and the Toronto Automobile Dealer’s Association.
